About the Dry Lake Bed
The Eldorado Dry Lake Bed is conveniently located along highway 95 as it passes the Bird Spring Mountain Range just south of Boulder City, Nevada. The combination of the flat lake bed and the rocky peaks rising to an elevation of 4,900 feet creates vivid shadows and impressive sunsets making it a favorite spot for photographers and filmmakers.
One word of caution, while we absolutely LOVE this venue, it isn’t for everyone. There is a growing solar electricity generation field that shares the space to the south and can feel obtrusive to some couples. We’re sad to see the panels encroaching on the vast emptiness, but are happy that plenty of wide open spaces still exist to make this impressive landscape one of our top choices for couples that want a look they can’t get anywhere else.
The same abundant sunshine that powers nearby solar fields at high-noon, makes for perfect natural lighting conditions late in the afternoon and at twilight. Imaginative photographers that know how to manipulate this site and its unique conditions take some of the most dramatic and satisfying wedding pictures you’ll ever see.
