What is the easiest way to get married in Vegas?

Weddings are a key component of the Las Vegas tourism industry, and that’s not by mistake. For nearly a century people have been trying to figure out how to get married in Vegas from out of state.

In this blog, we will lay out the facts and arm you with the expertise you need to get married in Vegas from out of state.

Relax, it’s easy. In short, Las Vegas made it easy to get married, because it brings in money. That’s good news for couples looking to get married in Vegas if they’re from out of state.

Can you get married in Vegas if you live in another state?

Fast Answer: Absolutely yes!

Nevada, like all the other 50 states (and the District of Columbia!) does not have a residency requirement.

More Useful Information

Eighteen states do require a waiting period after getting your marriage license, but Nevada does not.

In Nevada, you can get married on the same day that you file for the marriage license.

By contrast, another popular destination wedding state, Florida, requires a three day waiting period. Wanna get married in the city that doesn’t sleep? Try again tomorrow.

New York has a 24-hour waiting period. And don’t just think you can cross the Hudson. Jersey has a 3-day waiting period!

Definition: The marriage license waiting period refers to laws that mandate the couple wait for a period of time between when they file for the marriage license and when they are able to complete and return it.

Another advantage to Las Vegas is that your marriage license is good for a full year. That’s not unlimited, (Five states have no expiration: AL, GA, ID, MS, NM + DC) but it is a pretty long time.

The large majority of states (40 out of 50) only issue licenses good for between one and six months.

What paperwork do you need to get married in Vegas?

Fast Answer: Not much.

Complete the form online and then bring your ID.

More Useful Information

The Clark County marriage license bureau accepts the following forms of identification.

  • Passport
  • Matricula Consular Card
  • Military ID card issued by a branch of the United States Armed Forces
